Fourth of July Parade!

THE FOURTH OF JULY!

We are very excited for our 4th of July celebrations at St. Peter’s Luther Church. We hope that you can join us for some or all of the activities we will be doing.

We will be meeting on July 3rd at 5 PM in the fellowship hall to do the pre-work to decorate the truck for the parade. Pizza and soda will be served. We will need large cardboard boxes to decorate the truck, so if you have any you can spare, please bring them to the church.

On July 4th, the parade will begin at 10 PM. If you plan to walk in the parade, please meet us at REYA on Germantown Avenue (our normal meeting spot for the parade) by 9:30 AM. As we have done in past years, we will be handing out ice pops. If you would like to come early and help put the finishing touches on the truck, please meet us at the church at 8 AM.

Also on July 4th, we will be meeting at the church at 2 PM to ring the church bells. On July 4th, church bells, along with other bells across the nation, are rung 13 times at 2 PM ET to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the original 13 colonies. This tradition, known as “Let Freedom Ring,” was officially established in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy. Following the ringing of the church bells, we will have a picnic at the church where hot dogs, chips and desserts will be served. The picnic will be a BYOB event. The church’s alcohol policy only permits beer or wine so please stick to one of these options.

All our welcome. We look forward to seeing you on the 4th.

If you have any questions please contact Matt Clark.

God Bless America.
